Hudson Hospital Holdco — which operates several New Jersey hospitals — is seeking to buy Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, R.I., but the medical center is sticking with the purchase deal from Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare, according to a report by The Republic.
Prime Healthcare and Landmark Medical signed an asset purchase agreement in early October. The deal was approved by Superior Court Judge Michael Silverstein later that same month.
The Providence Journal reports that Hudson Holdco has offered to top Prime's purchase offer by $4 million. Hudson Holdco owns and operates Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center, Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City, N.J.
Although Mr. Silverstein approved Prime and Landmark Medical's deal, the state attorney general and the Department of Health must also approve the purchase.
