Louisville-based KentuckyOne Health will no longer run daily operations at the University of Louisville (Ky.) Hospital or the James Graham Brown Cancer Center as of July 1, the Courier-Journal reports.
University Medical Center, a nonprofit affiliate of the University of Louisville, will assume all management responsibilities at both facilities.
UMC is part of the University of Louisville's academic health center. It consists of the safety-net U of L Hospital, the James Brown Cancer Center and the Center for Women and Infants at the U of L Hospital, according to a Louisville Business First report.
KentuckyOne began managing the facilities in November 2012 under a joint operating agreement. However, the agreement faltered and the U of L board of trustees approved the change in management to UMC last December, according to the Courier-Journal.
Officials said KentuckyOne has taken an active role in assisting the change in management. Roughly 2,300 employees, including nurses, technologists and schedulers, as well as more than 700 primary and specialty physicians will continue serving at the facilities as UMC employees, the Courier-Journal reports. Employees will also retain their current benefits.
