Highland Hospital, a psychiatric hospital in Charleston, W.Va., has called off an agreement to sell its facilities to Franklin, Tenn.-based Acadia Healthcare, according to the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
Here are three things to know about the decision:
1. The decision came three months after Highland Hospital's board of directors agreed to sell Highland's facilities to Acadia. The sale would have included Highland Hospital, Highland Health Center and Process Strategies, an outpatient behavioral health facility.
2. Officials previously expected to have a definitive acquisition agreement in place by the end of September.
3. Highland Hospital officials have expressed interest in selling the hospital and its facilities to other interested buyers.
