Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth and Georgetown, S.C.-based Tidelands Health have partnered in a joint venture to own and operate Tideland's existing 29-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital at its Murrells Inlet, S.C.-based Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.
The systems plan to file a certificate of need application to build a second, 46-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Little River, S.C.
Hospital officials said they expect the hospital in Murrells Inlet to be up and running in 2018.
Construction on the hospital in Little River will begin following the approval of the certificate of need and all necessary regulatory approvals.
