Hawaii Health Systems Corp. Maui Region, a state-funded hospital system, and nonprofit Hawaii Pacific Health in Honolulu are looking to form a partnership, according to a Pacific Business News report.
Before a partnership between HHSC Maui Region and Hawaii Pacific can be formalized the deal must get legislative approval. HHSC Maui Region CEO Wesley Lo told the Pacific Business News, "Our timeline is that we'll have something by this spring."
In October, HHSC Maui Region was involved in preliminary partnership discussions with Kaiser Permanente Hawaii, which operates one hospital and 20 clinics on three Hawaii islands. However, Kaiser Permanente did not submit a formal proposal to partner, according to the report.
