Hackensack University Health Network, Palisades Medical Center sign letter of intent

North Bergen, N.J.-based Palisades Medical Center, a 202-bed facility, has signed a letter of intent to join Hackensack University Health Network, one of the largest healthcare systems in New Jersey.

The two organizations expect to have a definitive agreement in coming months. As a member of HackensackUHN, Palisades will remain an acute care hospital, known as HackensackUMC Palisades.

"For over a century, Palisades Medical Center has committed itself to providing exceptional care for our patients," said Bruce J. Markowitz, president and CEO of Palisades, in a news release. "Joining HackensackUHN, the premier healthcare system in New Jersey, is just one more step toward strengthening that mission."

The joint partnership is expected to receive approval from the New Jersey Department of Health and other authorities later this year.
