Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis., and its affiliate, West Union, Iowa-based Palmer Lutheran Health Center, have strengthened their long standing relationship through a more formalized partnership agreement.
Here are four things to know about the new formalized agreement.
1. Along with completion of the most recent work, Palmer Lutheran's board of directors will include four representatives from Gundersen and three representatives from the community. Previously, Gundersen had no seats on the board.
2. Future improvements currently being discussed include bringing additional services and specialty outreach to Palmer Lutheran and enhanced integration between the existing Gundersen clinics and Palmer Lutheran.
3. Overall, Tanya Tysland, DM, CEO of Palmer Lutheran, said the partnership "will help with continuity of care for patients between the clinics, specialty services and the hospital." She said it will also help ensure that services stay local.
4. Palmer Lutheran will be one of four regional hospitals partnered with Gundersen. It joins Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics in Whitehall, Wis., Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital and Clinics in Hillsboro, Wis., and Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics in Boscobel, Wis.
