Gundersen Health System, a four-hospital system in La Crosse, Wis., acquired Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wis., Aug. 14.
Under the agreement, Moundview Memorial, which consists of a 25-bed critical access hospital and two medical clinics, will operate under the Gundersen Moundview Hospital and Clinics brand. Moundview Memorial will also elect four community members to the consolidated entity's board of directors, while Gundersen Health will appoint five individuals.
Gundersen Health officials said there are no plans to lay off employees at either institution. Both organizations will continue to accept the same insurance providers.
Officials said they expect to complete the integration Oct. 1.
"Gundersen is a high quality, value driven, financially strong organization with a history of successful partnerships with critical access hospitals similar to ours," said Don Heinz, CEO of Moundview Memorial. "Their clinicians and staff are experts in developing new services in rural areas, including enhanced primary and specialty care."
