Augusta-based Georgia Regents Health System has begun preliminary partnership discussions with University Hospital in Augusta, according to The Augusta Chronicle.
The partnership would be an expansion of the existing relationship between GR Health and University Hospital since the two already collaborate on some residencies, according to the report.
An expanded partnership would help both GR Health and University Hospital "respond to shrinking reimbursements now and in the future," according to the report.
Regarding the potential partnership, the Georgia board of regents released a statement saying they wanted to "explore strategic opportunities to potentially create a partnership to expand health services and better serve Georgians," according to the report.
