Georgia hospital gets new management: 5 things to know

Milledgeville, Ga.-based Oconee Regional Medical Center is now officially managed and owned by Macon, Ga.-based Navicent Health, according to The Union-Recorder.

Here are five things to know.

1. As part of the arrangement, ORMC has a new interim CEO, Darren Pearce, and a new interim CFO, Judy Ware, according to the report.

2. The takeover involves workforce changes. Mr. Pearce, who has served as vice president of ambulatory services at Navicent, told The Union-Recorder, "There are going to be some positions that we are not going to have a need for. For example, there are some positions that we outsource that particular skill set, and those positions would lose that role. What we're doing is for everybody that's being moved out of a role in those particular instances, there will be other jobs in the [Navicent organization or in Macon] that they can apply for."

3. Overall, 18 employees, including one person in administration, are affected by the workforce changes.

4. As far as a possible name change at ORMC, a Navicent representative told The Union-Recorder, "We should have something forthcoming on that, but right now there is nothing definite at this time."

5. Navicent signed a temporary agreement to manage ORMC in July following the hospital's bankruptcy filing.
