Florida's Health Central Considers Partnership Proposals From Four Hospital Operators

Health Central, based in Ocoee, Fla., received proposals from four hospital operators for a possible partnership, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

Hospital Corporation of America, Health Management Associates, Orlando Health and Adventist Health's Florida Hospital offered proposals ranging from offers to buy the hospital outright to various partnership opportunities.
HMA offered to buy the hospital for $110 million and promised $35 million over five years on capital investments.

Non-profit Florida Hospital guaranteed $100 million for capital expenses over five years to expand services, while non-profit Orlando Health promised $120 million over five years. Orlando Health already has a relationship with Health Central for several clinical service lines, transcription and purchasing, according to the report.

HCA did not provide a specific capital investment amount, but stated they have invested about $51,000 annually on other hospitals it operates in the area.

The Health Central board will hold its next meeting on Nov. 30, where it will decide whether it will pursue a sale or a merger, according to the report.
