Duke LifePoint, Wilson Medical Center Partnership Progresses

Brentwood, Tenn.-based Duke LifePoint Healthcare is moving forward with a proposed partnership with Wilson (N.C.) Medical Center by meeting with Wilson employees and medical staff, according to a report from The Wilson Times.

Duke LifePoint and Wilson signed a memorandum of understanding to form a joint venture in July. Since then, forums have been held with Wilson employees, Rick Hudson, president and CEO of Wilson Medical Center, told the Times. Additionally, the Wilson County Board of Commissioners will hold public hearings on the proposed transaction Sept. 9 and Oct. 4.

Wilson and Duke LifePoint would share ownership and governance of the hospital under the terms of the partnership, with Duke LifePoint securing majority ownership interest. Wilson Medical Center, a 294-bed facility, is the only hospital located in Wilson County. Duke LifePoint is a joint venture between Duke University Health System in Durham, N.C., and LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood.
