Dignity Health Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz, Calif., has partnered with Kindred Rehabilitation Services.
Here are four things to know about the partnership.
1. Kindred Rehabilitation Services, part of Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare, provides acute rehab services to Kindred Healthcare inpatient rehabilitation facilities and more than 100 U.S. locations.
2. As part of the partnership, which began Jan. 1, Kindred will take over administrative responsibility for the outpatient physical, speech and occupational therapy programs at Dominican Hospital's rehabilitation campus, according to a news release.
3. Hospital officials said this change will not impact patients, who will still receive the same therapy services, from the same therapists, at the same location, and may result in expanded services in the future.
4. Dominican Hospital President Nanette Mickiewicz, MD, spoke positively of the partnership. "A partnership between Kindred and Dominican Hospital is a natural fit," she said in the release. "In the changing landscape of healthcare, it makes sense for hospitals to make partnerships in the community that can sustain, and even grow, their outpatient programs."
