Dignity Health Ends Negotiations With Ashland Community Hospital

San Francisco-based Dignity Health has ended negotiations with Ashland (Ore.) Community Hospital.

ACH and Dignity Health began exclusively negotiating a potential deal in April. In September, ACH's board of directors approved the affiliation. However, concerns were raised over potential changes to healthcare services due to Dignity Health's past ties with the Roman Catholic Church. Dignity Health is not currently controlled by any ethical or religious directives but it does have both secular and faith-based affiliates, according to a fact sheet provided by Ashland Community Hospital.

As to whether Dignity Health withdrew from the deal due to these issues is unclear.

According to the release, ACH is free to return to other options and offers in its pursuit of a partner. However, both organizations are still bound by a confidentiality agreement signed during the negotiation period. Further details were not available.
