More details have emerged regarding Evansville, Ind.-based Deaconess Health System's plan to acquire Hopkinsville, Ky.-based Jennie Stuart Health.
Here are five things to know:
1. The two parties signed a nonbinding letter of intent for Jennie Stuart to join Deaconess, an 18-hospital system, in late September.
2. Under the acquisition, all Jennie Stuart employees and physicians "in good standing will be retained," according to a Nov. 10 news release.
3. Deaconess will also commit $95 million to the Jeannie Stuart community, including $90 million for Jennie Stuart and a $5 million donation to the Jennie Stuart Health Foundation.
4. Jeannie Stuart's IT upgrades, such as integration to Epic's electronic health record platform, will be financially covered by Deaconess and range from $40 to $60 million. Deaconess will also grow and maintain core service lines at Jennie Stuart.
5. Other commitments under the acquisition will include a locally managed board of trustees that includes community members that Jennie Stuart serves, shared services and commitment to ensure Jennie Stuart Medical Center maintains its essential acute care hospital status, and ongoing financial support for the Jennie Stuart Health Foundation.
