Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., has officially joined Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins, according to a Washington Post report.
Sibley's board approved the merger last week. The two groups began merger discussions in May.
Under the deal, Sibley will become a subsidiary of Hopkins, but will retain its name, current leadership and board of trustees. No assets were transferred as part of the deal.
Johns Hopkins plans to expand Sibley's geriatric services and add comprehensive cancer services and a new women's health program, according to the report.
