Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Health announced Tuesday it closed the $12.9 billion deal to acquire Cincinnati-based pharmacy services provider Omnicare.
CVS announced it was pursuing the deal in May to boost its ability to dispense prescriptions in long-term care and assisted-living facilities.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, the deal was granted antitrust approval earlier this month and Tuesday's shareholder vote to approve the takeover completed the acquisition. CVS has not disclosed how it plans to run Omnicare or how it will integrate the company, according to the report.
