Officials at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Fla., have voted in favor of a sale or lease to Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corp. of America, according to a Citrus County Chronicle report.
HCA has reportedly offered $140 million for Citrus Memorial, lower than previously reported estimates. The other systems that were in the running to take over Citrus Memorial included Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates, Brentwood, Tenn.-based RegionalCare Hospital Partners and Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital.
The Citrus County hospital board voted for a lease with HCA, whereas the Citrus Memorial Health Foundation preferred an outright sale, according to the report. Board members from each side will create committees to determine whether a lease or sale is the best course of action, and officials hope to reach a final agreement within the next month.
