Community Health Systems has withdrawn its offer for an affiliation with Washington, N.C.-based Beaufort Regional Health System, according to a Washington Daily News report.
The health system received bids from three other systems — University Health System of Eastern Carolina, LHP Hospital Group and Brim Healthcare — which the system will continue to evaluate.
A representative for the health system said it hasn't lost any ground from CHS's withdrawal, according to the Washington Daily News report.
BRHS has held two public hearings on the proposed merger or affiliation, and public support at this point seems to lean toward a partnership with non-profit UHS of Eastern Carolina, according to a report by WITN News.
