Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of four South Carolina hospitals to Medical University of South Carolina Hospital Authority in Charleston on March 1.
The deal closed less than three months after the parties entered into a definitive agreement. The $176 million transaction includes the following hospitals: 82-bed Chester Regional Medical Center; 225-bed Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster; 396-bed Carolinas Hospital System in Florence; and 124-bed Carolinas Hospital System-Marion in Mullins.
The four South Carolina hospitals are among several facilities with combined revenue of $2 billion that CHS intends to sell.
