Pottstown (Pa.) Memorial Medical Center and Wilmington, Del.-based Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children will partner to provide advanced pediatric care for families in the Pottstown area, according to the Berks-Mont News.
Under the agreement, pediatric physicians at Nemours will work with inpatient physicians on high-risk deliveries at PMMC and provide consultations to physicians in the medical center's emergency department. PMMC is owned by Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
PMMC physicians will also have access to Nemours physicians via telemedicine initiatives, along with access to Nemours Kids Transport, an emergency transport system designed to safely transport children to the facility in Wilmington, according to the article.
"Keeping kids local for emergency and hospital care eases the burden for families by eliminating the need for travel," said Rich Newell, PMMC CEO, in a statement. "PMMC is proud to bring an enhanced level of pediatric care to our community through our relationship with Nemours. This collaboration and the resources Nemours provides will be an asset for our patients."
