CHS divests 2 Arkansas hospitals

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems completed the sale of two Arkansas hospitals on Nov. 1.

CHS sold 492-bed Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith and 103-bed Sparks Medical Center in Van Buren to Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health. CHS and Baptist Health closed the deal after entering into a definitive agreement in July.

The two Arkansas hospitals are among a group of facilities with combined revenue of $2 billion CHS intends to sell. CHS has completed 11 hospital divestitures this year.

After selling the two hospitals to Baptist Health, CHS continues to operate six hospitals in Arkansas.
