CHS' divestiture of Florida hospital moves forward

Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to sell Ocala, Fla.-based Munroe Regional Medical Center in April, and the deal received a key approval from the Marion County Hospital District this week, according to the Ocala Star-Banner.

Under the deal, Orlando-based Florida Hospital, a subsidiary of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based Adventist Health System, will assume the long-term lease and operations of 421-bed Munroe Regional.

On June 18, the Marion County Hospital District Trustees voted unanimously to accept the deal contingent on Florida Hospital agreeing to outstanding upgrades and additions to the hospital, which were part of the 40-year lease deal CHS signed in 2014.

The trustees' vote clears the way for the transaction to close by Aug. 1, according to the report.
