Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has acquired an 80 percent ownership interest in Physicians' Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark.
The 20-bed hospital is in the Arkansas region served by Northwest Health, a CHS-affiliated network that includes 128-bed Northwest Medical Center-Bentonville (Ark.), 222-bed Northwest Medical Center-Springdale (Ark.) and 64-bed Willow Creek Women's Hospital in Johnson, Ark.
Commenting on the transaction, CHS Chairman and CEO Wayne T. Smith said, "The addition of Physicians' Specialty Hospital in Fayetteville deepens our network of facilities in northwest Arkansas, one of the fastest-growing markets in the U.S. The physicians and providers of this hospital have established a strong reputation for quality care, and we look forward to working with them as we coordinate and strengthen clinical services for the region."
