CHRISTUS Health Louisiana, a region of Irving, Texas-based CHRISTUS Health, and Jefferson, La.-based Ochsner Health System have formed a strategic partnership.
Here are six things to know about the partnership.
1. The partnership is focused on increasing local access to care, improving quality and reducing the cost of healthcare for patients in Louisiana.
2. Areas of initial focus for the partnership include building a comprehensive telemedicine program so services such as stroke telemedicine and neonatal telemedicine are available across the three CHRISTUS Louisiana regions: CHRISTUS Health Northern Louisiana in Shreveport-Bossier, CHRISTUS Health Central Louisiana in Alexandria, Natchitoches, Coushatta and Mamou and CHRISTUS Health Southwestern Louisiana in Lake Charles.
3. As part of the partnership, both parties will launch additional patient-focused initiatives geared toward improving the treatment of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Both parties will also develop affordable solutions that will enable employers to provide healthcare coverage to their employees and empower employers to deliver health and wellness programs for their employees onsite, according to a news release.
4. Both parties will collaborate on clinical research studies, become more efficient in things such as supply costs and plan to work together to build a comprehensive, clinically integrated network of physician and hospital providers in Alexandria, Lake Charles and Shreveport-Bossier, the release reads.
5. The agreement is not a purchase or acquisition by either party.
6. Under the agreement, each organization will retain its identity and operational oversight.
