Christus Health, based in Irving, Texas, has acquired a 50 percent ownership interest in Clínica San Carlos de Apoquindo UC, a full-service hospital based in Santiago, Chile.
Other terms of the deal were not disclosed. The other 50 percent will be owned by Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Christus and PUC finalized a partnership this past December, in which the two organizations became equity partners in Red de Salud UC – Christus, a two-hospital health system with 11 outpatient clinics.
Christus officials said the latest acquisition will help the system's "strategic plan to grow its healthcare presence in Santiago…and the expansion will be key in extending high-quality healthcare to the people of Chile who need it."
