University of Colorado Hospital's proposed lease agreement with Colorado Springs-based Memorial Health System includes a service line agreement with a Denver-based children's hospital, according to a Gazette report.
Children's Hospital of Colorado would sublet the 100 pediatric beds within Memorial for a price that has not yet been determined, according to the report.
Memorial has had a children's hospital since 2004 — Memorial Hospital for Children. Its reputation has gradually improved after many pediatric specialists were fired in 2008.
Children's CEO Jim Shmerling has said his hospital's reputation, experience and financial commitments can advance Memorial more than it has been able to do on its own, according to the report. He also said the service line agreement will make it easier to recruit specialists.
