CHI St. Luke's acquires 5 freestanding ERs

Houston-based CHI St. Luke's Health has formed a joint venture with Bellaire, Texas-based The Larkin Group to purchase five independent, freestanding PhysiciansER centers, according to the Houston Chronicle.

With the addition of the five PhysiciansER centers, CHI St. Luke's is affiliated with eight 24-hour standalone emergency rooms.

"By offering additional choices for our patients and streamlined admittance to our hospitals if needed, we're putting patient access and convenience at the forefront — which support our mission perfectly," Michael Covert, CEO of CHI St. Luke's, said in a statement to the Houston Chronicle.

The health system's new freestanding ER centers are mostly located in Houston's northern suburbs.
