The Charlevoix (Mich.) Area Hospital board has voted to explore an expanded affiliation with Traverse City, Mich.-based Munson Healthcare, according to a Petoskey News-Review report.
The hospital originally signed an affiliation agreement with Munson in 2012. Before that, they worked together through a 2004 rural health network agreement, under which Munson provided consulting and advice on emergency medical services, medical staff services, quality improvement and plans for care. The board has agreed strengthening the relationship could be an effective way to ensure the hospital will thrive in a shifting healthcare industry, according to the report.
Munson Healthcare President and CEO Ed Ness told the News-Review he's looking forward to working toward a non-binding letter of intent with the hospital board.
