Longmont (Colo.) United Hospital and Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health have signed a letter of intent to affiliate.
The hospital had many options regarding potential affiliations, according to Richard Lyons, chairman of the board of Longmont United.
"Because of Longmont United Hospital's stability and consistent performance, the Board of Directors had a wide variety of the best healthcare systems in the state and region to consider concerning an affiliation," said Mr. Lyons. "We felt that aligning with Centura Health provided the best path forward now, and in the future."
President and CEO of Centura Health Gary Campbell also expressed optimism regarding the pending affiliation.
"Both Centura Health and Longmont United Hospital have strong legacies of serving their communities and we are confident our aligned mission and values, as well as our shared commitment to excellence, will position us to successfully collaborate to fulfill that covenant, optimizing health care value throughout the region," said Mr. Campbell.
The affiliation may be effective in 2015, pending legal and regulatory reviews.
