The affiliation builds on a long-term collaboration between the two organizations, according to a news release. Under the agreement, Carson Tahoe Health will be able to improve patient access to high-risk medical specialty treatment including advanced cancer care, transplant services, neurological care, clinical trials and complex cardiovascular care.

The affiliation doesn't change ownership, local control or governance, according to the release. It also won't restrict patient choice in providers.
