Starting July 1, Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System will provide management services to Murphy (N.C.) Medical Center, according to a Charlotte Business Journal report.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, according to the report. MMC is a 57-bed hospital that also includes a 134-bed nursing home, multi-specialty physician practice, urgent-care center and fitness center.
The chairman of MMC's board said the goal of the agreement is to maintain and enhance access to local health services while maintaining the local governance of the community hospital, according to the report. Carolinas will provide planning, operational and financial oversight. It will also assist with physician recruitment, educational efforts and improvements in informational technology and other infrastructure.
