Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health bought Iowa City, Iowa-based TelePharm, a four-year-old startup working to establish telepharmacies in rural Iowa, The Des Moines Register reported.
The deal closed last month and company representatives confirmed the sale Friday. Cardinal Health now completely owns TelePharm. The startup's platform offers web-based pharmacy services and a video conferencing system.
"Now that we're part of a larger organization, the possibilities are really endless because of what TelePharm's base was and what Cardinal is and what we can do with it," TelePharm founder Roby Miller told The Des Moines Register.
TelePharm has 18 employees and will remain in Iowa City. The sale amount was not disclosed.
