Franklin, Tenn.-based Capella Healthcare has signed letters of intent to acquire Pasco, Wash.-based Lourdes Health Network and St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, Idaho, which are both currently part of St. Louis-based Ascension.
Regarding the sale of the hospitals, Robert J. Henkel, executive vice president of Ascension and president and CEO of Ascension Health, said, "Capella Healthcare already has a presence in the Pacific Northwest, and we're confident that this change in ownership would give Lourdes and St. Joseph the ability to serve the Pasco and Lewiston communities well into the future."
Capella President and CEO Michael Wiechart said Capella was honored to have been selected as a partner for the two organizations. "Capella is committed to providing outstanding community-based healthcare, as Lourdes and St. Joseph's have done for many years," he said.
Details of the transactions are confidential, and both Capella and Ascension said additional information will not be released until definitive agreements are executed.
