Boscobel Area Hospital Officially Becomes Gundersen Affiliate

Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis., and Boscobel (Wis.) Area Health Care have completed their affiliation agreement, and the 25-bed critical access hospital is now known as Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics.

Financial terms of the deal, which was announced in July, were not disclosed. Boscobel is roughly 65 miles south of Gundersen's headquarters, and the hospital has been in a management agreement with Gundersen since 2012.

Boscobel is officially the fourth member hospital within Gundersen. The others are Gundersen St. Joseph's Hospital and Clinics in Hillsboro, Wis., Gundersen Tri-County Hospital and Clinics in Whitehall, Wis., and Palmer Lutheran Health Center in West Union, Iowa — all of which are CAHs.

The hospital hopes the affiliation will lead to new service offerings and recruitment of physician specialists.

"We are pleased to finalize our partnership with Gundersen. I am grateful to the many board members, staff, medical providers and Gundersen Health System representatives who have dedicated their time and talents to this affiliation," David Hartberg, CEO of Gundersen Boscobel Area Hospital and Clinics, said in a news release.
