Bon Secours Virginia Health System in Richmond has finalized its acquisition of Rappahannock General Hospital in Kilmarnock, Va., according to a Richmond Times Dispatch report.
In February, Bon Secours Virginia Health — part of Bon Secours Health System in Marriottsville, Md. — announced its intention to acquire Rappahannock.
Rappahannock's board of directors approved the transaction Dec. 3, and the hospital will officially join Bon Secours Virginia Health Dec. 31. Rappahannock will be Bon Secours Virginia Health's eighth hospital, according to the report.
Under the deal, Rappahannock's 450 full- and part-time employees will become Bon Secours employees. In addition, through the acquisition, Bon Secours Virginia Health will absorb Rappahannock's existing debt, according to the report.
