BJC HealthCare, a nonprofit system based in St. Louis, has signed an agreement to purchase Farmington, Mo.-based Mineral Area Regional Medical Center from Capella Healthcare, based in Franklin, Tenn.
Once the transaction is finalized, 127-bed Mineral Area Regional will operate as part of BJC's Parkland Health Center, which is also located in Farmington.
"The integration of Mineral Area Regional Medical Center will help us build additional relationships with physicians and improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare in the community," said Tom Karl, president of Parkland Health.
Mineral Area Regional CEO Lynn Mergen said her hospital and Parkland Health have worked together for many years, and taking this next step will make collaboration easier.
