Beaufort (S.C.) Memorial Hospital has bought the Surgery Center of Beaufort, allowing it to expand its outpatient surgical services, according to a Beaufort Gazette report.
Beaufort Memorial hospital already owned 40 percent of the facility, which has 40 physicians, including four general surgeons, seven anesthesiologists and a variety of specialists, according to the report, which cites a news release.
"Our focus is solely on surgery, so we're able to offer high-quality, professional care delivered in the most efficient, cost-effective manner possible," center director Carolyn Evec said in the news release, according to the report. "Patients find the smaller setting to be more personal, convenient and comfortable."
Although fees will go up, patients should pay less for procedures at the outpatient center than they would at the hospital, hospital president and CEO Rick Toomey told the Beaufort Gazette.
The surgery center, which is located on Ribaut Road in Beaufort, S.C., was founded in 2000.
