After nearly 20 years under the ownership of for-profit hospital chains, Bartow (Fla.) Regional Medical Center has been purchased by BayCare Health System, a nonprofit hospital network based in Clearwater, Fla., according to The Ledger.
Bartow Regional was most recently owned by Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems. In October, CHS inked a definitive agreement to sell the hospital to BayCare.
Glenn Waters, BayCare Hospital Division president and executive vice president, showed enthusiasm about the deal's completion. "We're very excited about welcoming Bartow Regional to a tight-knit, but diverse, family of Florida providers that span the care continuum," he said in a new release.
With the addition of BRMC, BayCare operates 14 hospitals in Central Florida, according to the report.
