Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Fla., has signed a letter of intent to partner with The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
Through the partnership, the organizations will provide care to adult cancer patients in northern Florida, including clinical trials and translational research.
Commenting on the partnership, Baptist Health President and CEO Hugh Greene said it is "truly a game-changer," as MD Anderson is a national and global leader in cancer care.
Although the partnership isn't expected to be finalized until spring 2015, the organizations will be working together to recruit and train additional physicians and team members in the meantime.
Once finalized, the agreement will make Baptist Health one of only three partner members of the MD Anderson Cancer Network.
