Baptist Health, a nine-hospital system in Louisville, Ky., signed a letter of intent to acquire and operate Elizabethtown, Ky.-based Hardin Memorial Health Nov. 6.
With the nonbinding letter of intent, the organizations will engage in a formal due diligence process to negotiate definitive transaction documents and garner the necessary regulatory approvals.
The terms of the letter of intent are confidential, officials said in an emailed press release. They said they expect the process to last several months, after which the terms of the final definitive agreement will be publicized.
Hardin Memorial Health's board of trustees previously agreed to sign the proposed letter of intent in August.
