Baptist Health acquires 2 home care agencies, adult day center: 4 things to know

Louisville, Ky.-based Baptist Health has acquired home care agencies in Breckinridge and Calloway counties, expanding its service area to include 39 Kentucky counties and six counties in Southern Illinois.

Here are four things to know about the transactions.

1. On Aug. 8, Baptist Health acquired Hardinsburg, Ky.-based Breckinridge Memorial Hospital's home health agency, licensed to serve Breckinridge, Hancock and Meade counties. The agency, renamed Baptist Health Home Care Breckinridge, will remain in its offices in Hardinsburg.

2. On Aug. 30, Baptist Health closed on the purchase of the home health agency — along with an adult day center — from Murray (Ky.) Calloway County Hospital. The home care agency, licensed to serve Calloway and Marshall counties, will remain in its offices in Murray.  The agency is now known as Baptist Health Home Care Murray Calloway.

3. Existing staff at each location will be retained to provide continuity of care for patients, Baptist Health said.

4. Services offered by the home care agencies will include skilled nursing, home health aides, counseling from registered dietitians, physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, medical social services and caregiver training classes. Adults with developmental disabilities attend the adult day center, open each weekday at Murray's Weaks Community Center.
