Auburn (N.Y.) Community Hospital is looking into the possibility of a partnership with a larger hospital in the future, according to a report from The Citizen.
Here are four things to know about ACH's plans.
1. ACH is eyeing possible partnerships with St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., and the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center.
2. Discussions of potential partnerships are still preliminary, and the hospital does not plan to announce anything until there are set plans, Scott Berlucchi, president and CEO of ACH, said, according to the report.
3. Of ACH's plans, Mr. Berlucchi said, "We're a small rural hospital, we don't have a lot of reserves, and I think you're going to see a lot of activity in upstate New York as small rural hospitals seek varying types of partnerships and affiliations."
4. This is not the first time ACH has looked at a potential partnership. The hospital hoped to form a partnership with Rochester (N.Y.) General Health System in 2011. However, both entities eventually decided not to affiliate after considering a deal for four months.
