Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill., and Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton, Ill., have signed a letter of intent to affiliate, allowing the two hospitals to move into a due diligence period to work out the exact structure of the deal, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
In an application to Illinois health regulators, Anderson Hospital and Community Memorial Hospital said they are exploring affiliation to maintain health services in Staunton. Through the transaction, Anderson Hospital will assume Community Memorial Hospital's assets and liabilities.
"Our hometown healthcare will be stronger and better with this affiliation, and it will provide additional access to Anderson's advanced diagnostics, specialty care and resources to better serve our patients," said Sue Campbell, CEO of Community Memorial Hospital, according to the report.
