Alice Peck Day Health Systems in Lebanon, N.H., has formally entered affiliation discussions with Dartmouth-Hitchcock, also based in Lebanon.
APD, which includes Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, a critical access hospital, has been looking for a strategic partner for the past year. Terms of a potential deal were not disclosed.
Dartmouth-Hitchcock and APD will work together this year to create a definitive affiliation agreement. APD executives said one of the primary components of the deal was finding a partner that would willingly align the hospital, as well as its primary care and specialty care clinics, with a system highly regarded for its quality.
Pending regulatory approvals, leaders expect the organizations will reach a formal agreement by next year.
