St. Louis-based Advanced ICU Care will begin providing tele-ICU services at Troy, Ohio-based Upper Valley Medical Center.
Here are four things to know about the transaction.
1. Under the transaction, intensivist-led clinical teams from eight of Advanced ICU's care centers will assist the medical center's staff in UVMC's tele-ICU.
2. The tele-ICU will host two-way audio-video capabilities to allow the remote care teams and medical staff to actively engage with patients 24/7.
3. Regarding the transaction, Becky Rice, president of UVMC, said, “UVMC [will be] the first hospital in the region, as well as the first hospital in the Premier Health System, to implement a tele-ICU program. This new tele-ICU partnership is part of our commitment to continually innovate and improve services for our patients and our community. The partnership will be monitored by a Premier Health system-wide ICU team to explore the benefit of tele-ICU for the entire system."
4. The medical center belongs to Dayton, Ohio-based Premier Health System.
