The following hospital mergers, acquisitions and general transactions took place within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Spectrum Health, Memorial Medical Center Finalize Affiliation
Executives at Memorial Medical Center in Ludington, Mich., and Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Mich., signed a definitive agreement that will turn MMC into an affiliate of Spectrum.

2. University of Maryland Medical System to Operate Fort Washington Medical Center
Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System signed a contract with the parent company of Fort Washington (Md.) Medical Center — Oxon Hill, Md.-based Nexus Health —  to take over the business development, management and operations of the 37-bed hospital.

3. Louisiana Panel Approves Privatization of LSU Hospitals
The Louisiana State Civil Service Commission approved the privatization of two public hospitals within Baton Rouge-based Louisiana State University Health Care Services Division.

4. Chester County Hospital Joins University of Pennsylvania Health System
Chester County Hospital and Health System in West Chester, Pa., officially became part of the University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia Wednesday.

5. 4 Ohio Health Systems Create New Care Organization
Four Ohio health systems joined forces to create Health Innovations Ohio, an independent organization that aims to create a fully integrated and aligned care model.

6. Preston Memorial Hospital to Affiliate With Mon Health System
Preston Memorial Hospital in Kingwood, W.Va., signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Mon Health System in Morgantown, W.Va.

7. Gouverneur Hospital to Continue E.J. Noble Operations After Dissolution
Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, N.Y., announced plans to create a new two-hospital system — St. Lawrence Health System — that will continue the dissolving Gouverneur, N.Y.-based E.J. Noble Hospital's operations through a new entity, Gouverneur Hospital.

8. LifePoint, Fauquier Health Sign Definitive Deal for Joint Venture
LifePoint Hospitals in Brentwood, Tenn., and Fauquier Health in Warrenton, Va., signed a definitive agreement to form a joint venture.

9. Memorial Hospital Completes Merger With Care New England
Providence, R.I.-based Care New England Health System finalized its partnership with Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in Pawtucket.
