1. 5 South Carolina Hospital Systems to Form Cost-Saving Collaborative
The boards of five of South Carolina's largest health systems approved the creation of a collaborative to contain healthcare costs.
2. Christus Buys 50% Stake in Chilean Hospital
Christus Health, based in Irving, Texas, acquired a 50 percent ownership interest in Clínica San Carlos de Apoquindo UC, a full-service hospital based in Santiago, Chile.
3. LCMC Health Becomes Operator of New Orleans East Hospital
New Orleans-based LCMC Health signed a "cooperative endeavor agreement" with the Orleans Parish Hospital Service District A, meaning LCMC Health will officially operate New Orleans East Hospital.
5. VCU Health System to Absorb Community Memorial Healthcenter
Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond and Community Memorial Healthcenter in South Hill, Va., signed a preliminary merger deal.
6. Mercy to Manage Oklahoma State University Medical Center
Mercy, a multistate health system based in Chesterfield, Mo., initiated discussions to manage 249-bed Oklahoma State University Medical Center in Tulsa.
7. Stormont-Vail HealthCare Joins Mayo Clinic Care Network
Stormont-Vail HealthCare, based in Topeka, Kan., joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
8. 3 Health Systems Express Interest in Jameson Health System
Three large health systems initiated discussions with Jameson Health System in New Castle, Pa., about a potential transaction.
9. Grays Harbor Community Hospital Seeks to Become Public-Owned
Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash., collected more than 3,000 signatures in the hope of becoming a public-owned hospital.
