An unnamed potential buyer approached Natchez (Miss.) Regional Medical Center.
2. Missouri Bill to Impede North Kansas City Hospital Sale
In the latest developments over the battle for authority to sell city-owned North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital, state legislators passed an amendment, pending the governor's approval, making it more difficult to sell public hospitals.
3. Lehigh Valley Health Network, Greater Hazleton Health to Merge
Greater Hazleton (Pa.) Health Alliance and Lehigh Valley Health Network based in Allentown, Pa., signed a merger agreement expected to be ratified May 1, pending regulatory approval.
4. UNC Health Care, Pardee Hospital Extend Management Agreement
Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care System and Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, N.C., agreed to expand their management agreement by 15 years.
5. Winter Haven Hospital Board Approves Definitive Agreement With BayCare
The board of trustees of Winter Haven (Fla.) Hospital unanimously voted to approve a merger with Clearwater, Fla.-based BayCare Health System.
6. Physicians File Motion to Halt Sale of St. Luke's Episcopal to Catholic Health Initiatives
Physicians from St. Luke's Episcopal Health System in Houston filed a motion to halt the system's sale to Denver-based Catholic Health Initiatives.
7. Spectrum Health to Absorb Mecosta County Medical Center by July
Mecosta County Medical Center in Big Rapids, Mich., will officially become part of Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Spectrum Health this summer after both systems' boards and the Mecosta County board of commissioners signed off on the deal.
8. Sanford Health, Jamestown Regional Medical Center Pursue Affiliation
Jamestown (N.D.) Regional Medical Center, a 25-bed critical access hospital, decided to pursue a clinical and technology-based affiliation with Fargo, N.D.-based Sanford Health.
9. Lincoln County Healthcare Plans to Close ED, Merge Critical Access Hospital
In order to keep St. Andrews Hospital's critical access status after closing its 25-bed emergency department, Boothbay Harbor, Maine-based Lincoln County Healthcare said it hopes to merge the Boothbay Harbor hospital with its sister campus, Miles Memorial Hospital — located about 30 minutes away in Damariscotta, Maine.
