1. Montefiore Finalizes Sound Shore Acquisition
Montefiore Health System, a New York City-based academic medical center, completed its acquisition of the bankrupt Sound Shore Health System, based in New Rochelle, N.Y.
2. East Jefferson General Hospital Physicians Favor HCA as Lease Partner
The primary governing group for independent physicians at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., endorsed Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America as a lease partner.
3. Lafayette General Health, American Legion Hospital Consider Lease Agreement
Lafayette (La.) General Health and American Legion Hospital in Crowley, La., signed a letter of intent to consider a long-term lease agreement.
4. UnityPoint-Proctor Merger Receives Illinois Approval
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board OK'd the affiliation deal between UnityPoint Health-Methodist and Proctor Hospital, both based in Peoria, Ill.
5. 3 Southern Health Systems Sign Collaboration Deal
Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Fla., Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine, Fla., and Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick signed a letter of intent to create a loose affiliation.
6. Scripps Health, El Centro Regional Medical Center to Discuss Potential Transaction
The city of El Centro, Calif., entered into a 90-day exclusive negotiating agreement with San Diego-based Scripps Health concerning the health system's potential acquisition and management of El Centro Regional Medical Center.
7. Mountain States Officially Acquires Unicoi Hospital
Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance officially acquired Unicoi County Memorial Hospital in Erwin, Tenn.
8. Prime Healthcare, Saint Clare's Health System Merger Delayed
The expected closing date for the sale of Denville, N.J.-based Saint Clare's Health System to Ontario, Calif.-based, for-profit Prime Healthcare Services was pushed back to the first half of 2014.
